Death toll climbs to 623 in Nepal as flood recovery efforts continue

As devastating floods and landslides continue to ravage Nepal, the death toll has tragically risen to 623, according to Anadolu Ajansi. Police across the nation have recovered 616 bodies, with the highest number found in Chitwan (233) and Nawalparasi East (158), both of which were severely impacted by the overflowing Bhotekoshi and Trishuli rivers. Victims have been discovered as far as the Indian border, highlighting the extensive reach of the disaster.

At least 638 people remain missing in Nepal, including 511 foreigners, while 27 police officers remain unaccounted for. Over 4,811 personnel have been mobilized to aid in the recovery efforts, deployed across the affected regions. In China, 7 deaths have been reported, with 554 people still unaccounted for, according to state-run Xinhua News Agency. Rescue operations have been successful, with 2,301 individuals rescued or treated for injuries, primarily in the Nuwakot and Rasuwa districts.
