Malaysia's green market launch, the Domestic Carbon Market Framework (DPKK), is expected to create at least 300,000 jobs by 2050, according to the Green Technology and Climate Change Transformation Centre (MGTC). The DPKK is anticipated to generate more jobs in green skills and professions related to the carbon market, according to stakeholders.

The centre believes that professionals in project carbon advancement, green house gas (GHG) expertise, measurement, reporting, and verification (MRV) processes, auditors, conservationists, and legal and financial professionals with knowledge of the carbon market will benefit as the market grows. The Green, Low-Carbon Economy Forum predicts that the DPKK could potentially generate a new workforce with green skills and professional expertise throughout the carbon value chain.

Although the exact number of jobs created by the DPKK remains unclear, experts estimate that Malaysia's transition to a green economy could create at least 300,000 new jobs by 2050. However, the exact figure is still uncertain and depends on the pace of implementation, the ability to attract investments, and the number and scale of carbon projects developed.
