CM Sukhu announces scheme for poor families not under Himachal government welfare net

Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu unveiled a new welfare scheme for two lakh families on October 2, targeting those not currently covered by the state's welfare programs. Under the Mukhyamantri Apna Parivar Sukhi Parivar Yojana, eligible women will receive a monthly stipend of Rs 1,500 and free electricity worth 300 units.

The Chief Minister highlighted that the scheme aimed to ensure marginalised sections of society receive their fair share of resources. At a gathering in Kangra, Sukhu mentioned that surveys were underway to identify eligible beneficiaries, with around 90,000 families yet to benefit from any government welfare scheme. Since assuming office, the government has taken steps to make Himachal Pradesh more self-reliant, with visible results emerging.

Additionally, Sukhu announced plans for an ozone-based drinking water treatment project in Dehra at a cost of Rs 46 crore, set to improve water quality across the state. Other announcements included the opening of a veterinary hospital in Baddal Thor, expansion of the Community Health Centre at Kasba Kotla, and the establishment of a new SDM office in Dadasiba.

He also released funds under the Mukhyamantri Matsya Samman Nidhi Yojana, providing Rs 3,500 to 1,012 fisher families directly. In Hamirpur, Sukhu laid the foundation stone for a new Government Senior Secondary School, Nadaun, valued at Rs 17.52 crore, which will feature modern facilities for students. The CM also discussed other initiatives, such as the Rajiv Gandhi Van Samvardhan Yojana, aimed at promoting afforestation and forest conservation, offering financial support and incentives to youth and women's groups involved in these efforts.

Furthermore, Sukhu outlined plans to bolster the education sector, including the opening of additional CBSE schools across the region.
