Cleveland Browns: Is this rookie playing himself into a starter’s role?

Berea, Ohio - June 11 - The Cleveland Browns are in an unusual position as their general manager Andrew Berry sets about transforming the once-proud offensive line. The team has been aging, injured, and expensive, prompting Berry to bid farewell to Joel Bitonio, Ethan Pocic, Wyatt Teller, and Jack Conklin. The remaining starter, Dawand Jones, is expected to be a backup.

In their place, the Browns welcomed left tackle Spencer Fano, left guard Zion Johnson, center Elgton Jenkins, right guard Teven Jenkins, and right tackle Tytus Howard. In addition, the Browns drafted tackle Austin Barber and center Parker Brailsford. Austin Barber, the rookie, can play multiple positions and displays a no-nonsense attitude on the field.

Head coach Todd Monken has expressed his satisfaction with the rookie's progress, noting his ability to adapt to new positions and respond to coaching. Monken even hinted that Barber could start at right guard when the season kicks off against the Jacksonville Jaguars. However, Monken emphasized that Teven Jenkins, the veteran player, still holds the advantage.

While Berry acknowledged that rebuilding the offensive line is not the most ideal scenario, the early indications seem promising as Barber and the new starters continue to cement their places in the lineup.
