Check out GTEC’s latest list of 100 unrecognised universities

The Ghana Tertiary Education Commission (GTEC) has recently published a comprehensive list of 100 universities that have been deemed unrecognised as of August 28, 2026. This decision stems from quality assurance concerns raised by the commission. The list includes a diverse range of institutions, both from Ghana and various countries across the globe.

GTEC warns the public to be cautious and conduct thorough research before accepting any certificates from the listed universities. Notable names on the list include Universidad Azteca from Mexico, Indian School of Management and Studies from India, Breyer State Theology University from the USA, and Debest College of Science, Arts and Business also from the USA.

Other universities on the list comprise faith-based institutions such as Faith University Seminary in the USA, Osiri University from the USA, and Monarch Business School in Switzerland. The list also features several institutions from Liberia, including Christian University College Monrovia and Rhema Bible Training College. Additionally, there are notable universities from Italy, such as Selinus University of Sciences and Literature, and from Switzerland, including Crown University International Chartered.

The commission's decision aims to protect potential students from enrolling in unrecognised universities that may not meet the necessary standards for quality education.
