APC govs’ll secure Tinubu’s re-election, says Uzodinma

Imo State Governor Hope Uzodinma, Chairman of the Progressive Governors Forum, declared on Thursday that the All Progressives Congress (APC) governors would work together to ensure President Bola Tinubu's re-election in the 2027 general election. This announcement came after a meeting between the President and the APC governors following the 160th National Economic Council meeting in Abuja.

Uzodinma emphasized that the responsibility for delivering the victory lies with the governors at the subnational level. The APC governors are firmly behind Tinubu, and they will identify the necessary actions to carry out a successful and vibrant campaign in their respective states. Uzodinma stressed that the combination of subnational mobilization and federal-level coordination will determine the election's outcome.

Nasarawa State Governor Abdullahi Sule echoed Uzodinma's sentiments, stating that governors would lead the campaign efforts in their respective states. Both governors revealed that President Tinubu briefed them on the establishment of the Presidential Campaign Council, which received their full agreement. During the meeting, discussions centered on reducing the cost of living for Nigerians, including transportation, food security, agriculture, and prosperity for the people.

Governor Sule also highlighted the President's focus on gas utilisation, particularly in the form of Compressed Natural Gas (CNG), and his commitment to investing in this sector. The meeting followed the release of the APC's Presidential Campaign Council list on August 22, 2026, and came just days after the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) commenced campaigns for the 2027 general election on August 19, 2026.
