Anwar says Malaysia’s success must be anchored by a knowledgeable, disciplined generation

Malaysia's progress should not merely be assessed through economic and technological advancements, but also by nurturing a well-informed and disciplined younger generation, stated Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim. The nation's future leaders must receive an education that instills values, a service-oriented mindset, and a sense of responsibility towards their families, society, and country.

"What is the purpose of development and a country's success if our children lack spirit, education, discipline, and love? That is why our children must embody such virtues," Anwar emphasized.

He expressed this during the inauguration of the 15th Malaysian Scouts Jamboree (MYJAM15) held at Penang State Stadium. Notable attendees included Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow and Chief Scout Datuk Prof Dr Mohd Zin Bidin. Anwar cautioned that while embracing rapid technological advancements like information technology and AI, the younger generation must not forsake their cultural roots and values, which form the societal foundation.

He stressed the need for the younger generation to adapt to new challenges while preserving their identity, values, and heritage.

The Prime Minister also highlighted the significance of unity in diversity, as the younger generation would shape the country's leadership. Ahead of the 2026 National Day celebrations, Anwar encouraged young people to maintain their patriotic spirit and prepare for future challenges. MYJAM15, running from August 29 to September 4, gathered over 5,450 scouts from 11 countries, including South Korea, Indonesia, Singapore, and Sri Lanka.

This edition marks a historic milestone as Penang, for the first time in 60 years, hosts the national event, having previously hosted it in Teluk Bahang in 1966.
