Anwar says Malaysia’s success must be anchored by a knowledgeable, disciplined generation

Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim emphasized that a nation's prosperity extends beyond merely economic and technological advancements. He stressed the importance of nurturing a knowledgeable and disciplined younger generation. The Prime Minister proposed that young people be educated with a focus on imparting values, a sense of service, and responsibility towards family, society, and the country.

Anwar highlighted that education serves a purpose beyond acquiring knowledge; it aims to create individuals who are both intellectually enlightened and morally upright, capable of serving society and their nation.

During the inauguration of the 15th Malaysian Scouts Jamboree (MYJAM15) at the Penang State Stadium, Anwar stated that the development of a nation's success is intrinsically linked to the cultivation of a generation that embodies spirit, education, discipline, and love. He questioned why knowledge is pursued if it does not lead to individuals who are morally upright and dedicated to serving their community, parents, and country. This nurturing culture must be encouraged, Anwar asserted.

Addressing contemporary challenges, Anwar noted that rapid advancements in information technology and artificial intelligence (AI) should not cause the younger generation to overlook their cultural heritage and values. He argued that while technological changes are inevitable, the ability of the younger generation to adapt to these changes without relinquishing their values and heritage is crucial.

The Prime Minister also underscored the necessity of fostering unity in diversity, given that future leaders of the country will emerge from this generation.

As the nation prepares for its 2026 National Day celebrations, Anwar called upon the younger generation to continue fostering a strong sense of patriotism and readiness to face future tests and challenges. MYJAM15, which brings together over 5,450 local and international scouts from 11 countries, including South Korea, Indonesia, Singapore, and Sri Lanka, is a significant event. This year's jamboree holds special significance as it returns to Penang after a 60-year hiatus since the state first hosted the event in 1966.
