A Russian attack hits Ukraine’s Kyiv region, killing at least 27

Kyiv, Ukraine (AP) — At least 27 individuals have lost their lives following a Russian assault on the Bucha district, situated near the capital of Kyiv, reported officials on Saturday.

Tymur Tkachenko, head of the local regional military administration, revealed that the attack had damaged at least 50 residential buildings and triggered a major fire that engulfed homes and a restaurant.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy disclosed that a warehouse had been struck in the village of Myla, followed by an explosion. He did not provide further information on the precise location, but stated in the same message that criminal investigations had commenced for official negligence, citing the regulation that ammunition should not be stored close to residential areas.

More than four and a half years of Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine have led to almost constant air raids in Kyiv, crippling the economy and severely disrupting daily life.
