3,000 kg of Rotten Meat Seized From Bus in Peshawar

In Peshawar, authorities have confiscated and destroyed approximately 3,000 kilograms of improperly stored and decaying meat found on a bus. The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Food Safety and Halal Food Authority revealed that inspectors had set up a checkpoint near Kala Mandi on Grand Trunk Road to check vehicles carrying food products. Upon examination, the team uncovered a significant amount of rotten and subpar meat hidden within the bus's compartments.

This meat was deemed unsafe for human consumption and subsequently disposed of at the WSSP landfill. The spokesperson emphasized that concealing meat in hidden areas constitutes a breach of food safety and hygiene regulations. Investigations have been launched against the individuals involved in transporting and distributing the unsafe meat, under the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Food Safety Act.

The province's Special Assistant for Food Affairs, Dr. Muhammad Israr Khan, commended the food safety team for their efforts and declared that no leniency would be extended to those responsible for supplying harmful food to the public. He instructed officials to ramp up their efforts to combat unsafe food and improve oversight of food transportation and sales across the region.

Dr. Israr stressed that ensuring safe, clean, and high-quality food for the public remains a top priority for the government, and emphasized that severe legal consequences await anyone found endangering public health.
