World's youngest reigning traditional monarch dies aged 34

Oyo Nyimba Kabamba Iguru Rukidi IV, the youngest reigning traditional monarch in the world, has passed away at the age of 34, according to Uganda's prime minister. King Oyo ascended to the throne of the Tooro kingdom in western Uganda at the tender age of three in 1995, following his father's demise. The cause of his death remains undisclosed, but it is reported that he had been critically ill and was receiving treatment in the United States.

Despite Uganda being governed by an elected president and parliament, traditional kingdoms like Tooro continue to wield significant cultural influence. King Oyo was well-respected by his people and actively promoted causes such as youth empowerment, education, climate conservation, and HIV/AIDS awareness. The Tooro Kingdom, a hereditary system, mourns the loss of their monarch, with the Prime Minister calling his passing an "immeasurable loss" and urging the people to remain united during this difficult time.
