World’s youngest reigning monarch King Oyo dies at 34

King Oyo Nyimba Kabamba Iguru Rukidi IV, the world's youngest reigning monarch who ascended the throne at just three years old, has passed away in Uganda at the age of 34, according to the kingdom's Prime Minister. The cause of death has not been disclosed, but Ugandan media reported that Oyo had been critically ill and receiving treatment in the United States.

Oyo became king in 1995 after his father's death, and was formally crowned as the Tooro Kingdom's ruler at the age of 18 in 2010. He is remembered for his support of youth empowerment, education, climate conservation, and HIV/AIDS awareness. Oyo's reign lasted 31 years, and his death brings an end to his 34-year rule that began in his childhood.
