Winnipeg police seek help identifying deceased man

Winnipeg police are seeking public assistance in identifying an unidentified man who passed away after being discovered unconscious near the intersection of Main Street and James Avenue on July 28. According to the Winnipeg Police Service (WPS), the individual was transported to the Health Sciences Centre, where he succumbed to his injuries the following day.

Authorities believe his death was not a result of foul play. The Manitoba Chief Medical Examiner's Office, alongside the WPS Forensic Sciences Unit (IDENT) and the province's integrated missing persons coordination centre, have been working tirelessly to identify the deceased, but his identity remains unknown. He is described as a man of average height, standing five feet seven inches, with a lean build.

Though the exact age is not disclosed, police indicate he was in his 40s to 60s. The unidentified man had dark, recently shaved hair, a thin mustache, and brown eyes. He bore two scars: one half-inch scar above his left eye, near his eyebrow and nose, and another one to two inches long scar under the right side of his ribcage. He possessed an older, faded tattoo on his right hand, possibly depicting the letters "MK."

Upon being found, he was dressed in light blue Levi's jeans, a grey T-shirt, black steel-toed boots, and an orange-and-white striped belt.
