‘Who says I don’t have money?’: Fazley Yaakob dismisses claims he pursued Vida for her wealth

In a recent Anugerah Melodi Terhangat 2026 press conference in Bangsar, celebrity chef and singer Datuk Fazley Yaakob refuted allegations that he pursued entrepreneur Datuk Seri Vida solely for her wealth. Fazley, when asked about his relationship with Vida, expressed that his family background is financially secure, saying, "Who says I don’t have money? If people look at my family background, thank God, my family is financially comfortable."

As per the entertainment portal Gempak, Fazley highlighted that this union brings together two established business empires. He admitted to initially fearing criticism from fellow entertainers, friends, and his students, but reported that the overwhelming majority of responses have been encouraging. Fazley mentioned that people even messaged the duo after three days without a TikTok live broadcast, inquiring if they had fallen out, urging him to care for Vida.

On the other hand, Vida revealed that she has pared down her social circle and is currently meeting with only a few people due to the various opinions circulating about their relationship. When asked about the claims that Fazley was attracted to her wealth, Vida responded by challenging the allegations, jokingly suggesting he should instead be giving his assets to her instead.

The couple had previously confirmed that their relationship was genuine and had received the blessing of Fazley's family, though they have not announced any plans for marriage. Vida had mentioned in July that they had started preliminary discussions about the relationship further but needed more time to get to know each other. The couple reportedly became close after appearing together in the second season of Astro's reality programme Talk To My Manager with their respective children, Cik B and Fariedz.
