Warehouses targeted outside Kyiv in all-day drone attack as Russian forces kill at least 10, injure 43 over past day across Ukraine

On August 27, Kyiv, Ukraine's capital, experienced a prolonged Russian drone strike throughout the day, with warehouses targeted on the outskirts of the city. Over the previous day, at least ten civilians had been killed and forty-three injured across Ukraine, according to local authorities. Russian forces launched a total of 164 Shahed-type drones overnight on August 28, half of which were jet-powered.

Ukrainian air defenses intercepted 137 of these drones; however, strikes were recorded at sixteen locations, with debris falling at four others. As of 9 a.m. local time, fourteen drones remained active within Ukrainian airspace.

Several alerts for air raids were issued throughout the morning in Kyiv and other regions due to the threat of jet-powered drones. In the Kharkiv Oblast, two civilians were killed and four others, including two children, were injured in Russian attacks overnight on August 28. Likewise, in Sumy Oblast, a Russian drone attack resulted in one death and five injuries.

In Kherson Oblast, one person was killed and eleven others injured, including a child, after Russian forces attacked fifty-three settlements in the region. In Zaporizhzhia Oblast, a civilian woman was killed and six others injured after Russian forces targeted 53 settlements, with a drone strike at an Epicenter hypermarket igniting a large fire and injuring at least four people.

Finally, in Donetsk Oblast, one person was killed and three others injured, while in Dnipropetrovsk Oblast, two people were killed overnight and eight injured after Russian forces attacked the Synelnykove district and the city of Nikopol, respectively.
