Umno jemput pimpinan tertinggi PAS ke PAU2026

Umno has requested PAS' top leadership to attend the PAU2026, according to Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki, the Umno Deputy Chairman, after a meeting of the Umno's Highest Council (MKT) late tonight. The decision to invite PAS' top leadership comes as a gesture of respect and in response to Umno's invitation to attend the annual PAS Muktamar.

PAU2026 is scheduled to run from September 9 to 12. Earlier reports suggested that PAS had invited Umno President Zahid Hamidi and three other party leaders to attend the 72nd PAS Muktamar in Kota Bharu, Kelantan. Zahid confirmed on August 23 that Umno would send a delegate to the aforementioned Muktamar, but the specific delegate has not been decided yet.

The 72nd PAS Muktamar is scheduled to take place from September 2 to 5, with the main event being the swearing-in of PAS President Hadi Awang on September 4. This development comes as Umno and PAS relations return to the focus of political cooperation involving the Barisan Nasional (BN) and Perikatan Nasional (PN) in the PRN Negeri Sembilan early this month.

The understanding led to BN and PN controlling 25 of the 36 seats, forming the government of Negeri Sembilan. This victory also suggests the possibility of expanding such cooperation to PRU16, including the recent PRN Melaka expected before the end of the year.
