Ukraine confirms strike on major Russian oil refinery in Yaroslavl

A Russian missile strike completely destroyed Global Spirits' Khortytsia distillery in Zaporizhzhya on the night of July 19, 2026. The facility was hit four times, resulting in significant damage that renders it beyond repair. The plant burned for at least three hours, causing extensive destruction. According to Global Spirits' press service, some products burned completely while others partially melted and must be disposed of.

The company lost around 3-4 million bottles that had already paid excise tax, with an average value of UAH 100 per item. Ivan Fedorov, head of the Zaporizhzhya Regional State Administration, reported that the plant's production facilities were damaged, sparking a fire. The fire destroyed all warehouse facilities and inventory, leading to the impossibility of delivering products to customers. Preliminary estimates put the losses at more than UAH 100 million, equivalent to about $2.2 million. The Khortytsia distillery, one of Global Spirits' main businesses, was built with a unique design and equipped with systems from leading global manufacturers.

It employed over 500 people and could produce up to 16 bottles per second. The plant produced various vodka brands, including Khortytsia, Morosha, Pervak, Medova, Pshenychna Sloza, and Gold Ukraine. In April 2024, Global Spirits entered new markets with mineral water and energy drinks, launching 52 new products and investing EUR 6 million.

However, the company's revenue fell by 54.3% in 2025, and its assets value dropped by 3%. Since July 2022, Global Spirits Group LLC has been owned by Liechtenstein citizen Martin Michael Wachter, who took over from Ukrainian businessman and founder Yevhen Chernyak.
