Portland Trail Blazers guard Shaedon Sharpe will miss at least six months following surgery to mend a lateral meniscus tear in his right knee, according to the team's announcement on Thursday. The injury occurred during a recent workout and necessitated surgery on Monday in Los Angeles. Standing at 6-foot-5, the shooting guard had an impressive season last year, averaging 20.8 points, 4.3 rebounds, and 2.6 assists in 50 games.

Injuries have plagued Sharpe throughout his four-year career with the Blazers. Prior to his latest setback, he dealt with a stress reaction in his left fibula, which kept him out of action. Born on September 23, 1999, Sharpe was selected as the seventh overall pick in the 2022 draft by the Portland Trail Blazers.

The team anticipates reevaluating Sharpe's condition in six months, as he is expected to recover from the surgery. Earlier this year, the 23-year-old secured a four-year, $90 million contract extension with the Blazers.
