The most dramatic moments in Lindsay Clancy's murder trial, inside the court and out

Jurors deliberating the fate of Lindsay Clancy, accused of murdering her three children in 2023, were once again unable to reach a unanimous decision. Following a second deadlock, the judge instructed the 12 members of the jury to resume deliberations on Thursday. Earlier, the jury informed the court that they were still unable to agree on a verdict after a week and a half of deliberation.

Judge William Sullivan, presiding over the trial in Plymouth, Massachusetts, delivered a special set of instructions, known as a "dynamite charge," to encourage the jurors to re-examine their positions and strive for a unanimous decision. The trial has been ongoing for six weeks, concluding its fifth day of deliberations.

During the trial, Clancy, 36, was convicted of strangling her children to death with exercise bands in their Boston suburb home. She then attempted suicide by jumping from a second-story window, leaving herself paralyzed. Her defense argued that she was a loving mother experiencing a psychotic episode at the time of the crime.

Despite the jury's efforts, they were still unable to agree on a verdict after a second attempt. If the jury fails to reach a decision and the judge declares a mistrial, prosecutors will need to decide whether to retry the case, which has involved over 80 witnesses and 300 exhibits. Clancy faces life in prison without parole if convicted of first-degree murder.
