S'pore couple missing in Nepal floods, their daughters appeal for help: 'We want to see our parents soon'

Flash floods and mudslides hit Nepal's border region with Tibet on August 26, resulting in hundreds of deaths and leaving hundreds missing, according to the BBC on August 28. Among those who are missing are a married Singaporean couple, Sumit Rawla and Shubakshi Rawla, who were traveling with a tour group. Shubakshi's sister, Dipti Bhatnagar, informed that the couple had been married for 25 years and have two daughters aged 20 and 16, residing in Canada.

The last video call between Shubakshi and Dipti was at 7 a.m. on August 26. Shubakshi had mentioned they were preparing to cross the border into Tibet. Dipti and her nieces are now based in India, awaiting news of their parents. The Singaporean family has reached out to the Singapore Embassy, High Commission, and local authorities, appealing for assistance in locating their missing parents through their smart watches.
