Sista Afia urges fellow artistes to disinfect microphones before performances

Ghanaian singer Sista Afia has called on fellow musicians to prioritize hygiene when using microphones during live performances. In a post on social media, she expressed concern that artists often share microphones without proper sanitization between shows. Sista Afia argued that performers frequently move from event to event and share microphones with multiple individuals, increasing the risk of germ exposure.

She urged artists to disinfect microphones before each use to minimize their chances of contracting illnesses. While she admitted that the microphones might not be the sole cause of sickness, she emphasized the importance of taking precautions due to the shared usage of the equipment. Sista Afia recommended that artists carry microphone-safe disinfectant sprays or sanitizing wipes and clean shared microphones before each performance.

She also suggested that well-off performers consider bringing their own microphones to events. Her comments have drawn attention to hygiene practices in the live entertainment industry, where microphones are frequently passed among performers at concerts, festivals, corporate events, and other public gatherings. Sista Afia emphasized that her message aimed to encourage artists to prioritize their health while meeting the demands of the entertainment business.
