Sean McDermott's Surprise Practice Appearance Sparks Speculation

Former Buffalo Bills head coach Sean McDermott participated in a joint practice between the Chicago Bears and Tennessee Titans on Thursday, raising questions about his visit. Fans are speculating that McDermott may join the Bears staff as a defensive coach or advisor before the 2026 NFL season. McDermott previously served as defensive coordinator for the Philadelphia Eagles and Carolina Panthers before becoming the head coach of the Bills, where he led the team for nine years prior to his dismissal at the end of the past season.

According to ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter, Sean McDermott is at today's Titans-Bears joint practice and is spending time with Chicago HC Ben Johnson. Several fans have expressed their desires for McDermott to join the Bears staff as a defensive advisor, special assistant, or senior consultant. The Bears are set to begin their 2026 regular-season campaign with a Week 1 game against the Panthers on September 13.
