Police probe farmland destruction, land grabbing claims in Ogun

The Ogun State Police Command has initiated an investigation into claims of farmland destruction, criminal intimidation, and suspected land grabbing in the Ajogbo Akia community. This comes after media reports highlighted concerns from the traditional leadership and residents over alleged activities of suspected land grabbers. Police Commissioner Bode Ojajuni has ordered a thorough investigation to establish facts, identify perpetrators, and ensure justice for those found guilty.

The police emphasized that land disputes, including ownership claims and boundary adjustments, are civil matters to be resolved through courts of law. Legitimate land owners can still report criminal acts to the police, such as property damage, trespass, or threats. The command has directed increased patrols and intelligence assets to monitor the area, ensuring farmers and residents can access their lands safely.

The police reaffirmed their zero-tolerance policy towards illegal land grabbing, self-help, and threats to life. They also praised the community's traditional ruler and leaders for seeking police intervention over resorting to violence.
