Police arrest suspects over staged kidnapping, rescue two-year-old

The Nigeria Police Force has made arrests in connection with a staged kidnapping of a two-year-old child and uncovered a suspected kidnapping and armed robbery syndicate. Operatives of the Intelligence Response Team (IRT) conducted two intelligence-led investigations. In the first case, 34-year-old Nansik Wuyep Sule was arrested for allegedly conspiring with the child's biological mother, Catherine Davou, to stage the kidnapping.

The ransom demand increased from ₦7 million to ₦15 million. Sule kept the child at his residence. The second investigation led to the arrest of Idris Mohammed, known as Yellow, and Mohammed Bello Adams for their alleged involvement in the kidnapping of commercial driver Idris Zakari Baba and other criminal activities. Baba was lured into the bush and held until a ransom of ₦3 million was paid.

The IRT also connected the suspects to the kidnapping of Pastor David Dahni and his driver, Abdullahi Abubakar, for which a ₦10.5 million ransom was reportedly paid. Investigations are ongoing to identify other persons involved and determine the full extent of the suspects' involvement.
