Patients Suffer As Sanjeevani 108 Vehicle Remains Off Road For 20 Days In MP’s Dhar

Patients are struggling in Dhar district of Madhya Pradesh as the government-run Sanjeevani 108 vehicle at Bagh Health Centre has been out of commission for 15-20 days due to a mechanical fault. The Sanjeevani 108 service is designed to provide emergency transport for patients referred from government hospitals, without imposing financial burdens on families. However, the vehicle's frequent breakdowns have reduced its availability, causing significant inconvenience.

On Thursday night, two youths from Bagh Banshi Colony were involved in a motorcycle accident and sustained serious head injuries. The duty doctor, Vishwajeet Patel, and hospital staff provided immediate first aid and referred the patients for further treatment. Unfortunately, the unavailability of the Sanjeevani 108 vehicle meant that the injured youths' relatives had to wait for nearly two hours before an alternative transport could be arranged.

The delay in transportation not only caused distress to the patients' families but also led to a minor dispute with hospital staff. However, it was quickly resolved, and another vehicle was brought in to transport the patients. The source indicates that the Sanjeevani 108 vehicle had been experiencing an oil seal issue for the same period, and the repairs were underway in Rajgarh district.

Despite the reported issue, attempts to contact the local DM of Dhar district went unanswered. The incident highlights the critical role that the Sanjeevani 108 vehicle plays in providing timely emergency transport, especially for patients in remote areas who may not have access to other means of transportation. The prolonged downtime of the vehicle has put additional strain on the healthcare system and put patients and their families under unnecessary stress.
