Pakistan to Create Central Database of Criminals

Pakistan's Ministry of Interior plans to establish a central database to track individuals involved in criminal activities nationwide. The database, based on the Federal Crime List (FCL), will merge records from provincial police, the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA), and other law enforcement bodies. The data will be controlled through the National Police Bureau’s Command and Control Center.

FCL will include those implicated in severe and non-bailable offenses. Proclaimed offenders, court evaders, and wanted suspects will also be included. The system will cover those under arrest warrants or detention orders, as well as members and officers from banned organizations. Authorities will list individuals involved in organized crime, drug smuggling, human trafficking, terror financing, money laundering, cybercrime, and financial fraud.

International alerts such as Interpol Red Notices will be incorporated into the database. Warrants for wanted and evading suspects will be shared with relevant authorities across Pakistan. The government is contemplating assigning a distinct National Criminal Identification Number to each person listed.
