Number of missing in deadly Nepal, China floods jumps past 2,400

The death toll from the deadly floods in Nepal and China has surpassed 2,400, highlighting the devastating impact of the disaster. Rescuers are working through mud and debris but face the threat of further flooding. So far, 586 bodies have been recovered, with some bodies swept downstream as far as India. Over 933 hydropower workers have been added to the list of missing persons, along with trekkers and pilgrims to Mount Kailash.

Rescue teams have been struggling to reach survivors in affected zones, where food and water supplies are dwindling. Some 350 workers and residents have been rescued from the Trishuli 3A hydropower project, but efforts continue to save over 100 people still trapped. Survivors in a makeshift hospital are anxiously awaiting news of their missing family members.
