NMoQ connects learning, heritage at ExxonMobil STEAM

The National Museum of Qatar (NMoQ) and ExxonMobil Qatar have partnered to launch the ExxonMobil STEAM Festival, running from August 27 to November 28. This three-month program explores the connection between Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics (STEAM) through Qatar's rich heritage. The festival takes place in NMoQ's Temporary Exhibitions Gallery 2 and offers a variety of hands-on experiments, interactive workshops, and scientifically-based activities designed to bridge modern inquiry with the nation's culture, environment, and history.

The festival invites both school groups and families, with weekday visits aimed at students and weekend attendance targeted towards families. Since 2012, ExxonMobil Qatar and Qatar Museums have collaborated to create meaningful opportunities for learning and community engagement. ExxonMobil Qatar serves as the exclusive sponsor of the Sustainability and Valuing the Environment Gallery and has a long-standing commitment to education and community development.

Mohammed Saad Al Rumaihi, CEO of Qatar Museums, expressed his delight at the festival, stating that it offers fresh approaches to learning and discovery in museum spaces, enabling young audiences to learn, experiment, and develop new skills. Sheikh Abdulaziz bin Hamad Al-Thani, Director of the National Museum of Qatar, highlighted the museum's focus on using stories, knowledge, and environments to shape Qatar's heritage, and how the festival invites children and families to explore the nation's natural heritage and maritime history.

Rashid Al-Hajri, Vice President and Manager of Public and Government Affairs at ExxonMobil Qatar, emphasized the importance of education as an investment in children and families' learning through exploration. He also connected the festival's initiatives with Qatar National Vision 2030. Finally, Taher Hamid, President and General Manager of ExxonMobil Qatar, acknowledged the strength of the partnership with Qatar Museums and the shared commitment to making learning accessible and meaningful for the community, while contributing to future talent development and innovation.
