Military Commits to Providing Affordable Housing for Personnel

The Nigerian military has reaffirmed its pledge to offer affordable housing for its members, while simultaneously enhancing operations, broadening its real estate ventures and advancing welfare initiatives for the personnel. Major General Isaiah Allison, the Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of Defence Properties Limited (DPL), emphasized this commitment upon taking up his position at the company’s headquarters in Abuja.

As highlighted in a statement by Navy Captain JD John-Ogudire, the new CEO succeeded Brigadier General Sebhil Adeyemo.

Allison expressed that DPL’s vision aligns with the military's strategic philosophy under the Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), General Olufemi Oluyede, which focuses on boosting the Armed Forces' capacity through enhanced jointness for a stronger operational posture, supported by improved welfare efforts and sound administration. This approach intends to ensure the Armed Forces upholds its core military objectives of protecting Nigeria's sovereignty and prosperity under a whole-of-government framework.

John-Ogudire noted that the CDS’s command philosophy is built on greater jointness, sound administration, and improved welfare. These priorities are pursued at the Defence Holdings Company level, led by Group Managing Director Air Vice Marshal AV Ndace, with Major General Isaiah Allison spearheading their execution at DPL.

The new administration’s primary objective has been to provide the company with a clear direction and prepare it for action, as demonstrated by DPL’s inaugural retreat, themed “Launching Out with Clarity & Focus.” This retreat offered staff the chance to assess operations, enhance professional skills, and agree on a clearer path forward. Allison’s leadership strategy emphasizes staff development and revitalizing DPL’s operations to generate resources for effective administration and improved welfare.

In addition, the new administration has started inspecting DPL facilities and strengthening collaboration within the Defence Holdings Company Limited. The DPL management team paid respects to Defence Farms/Agro-Allied Products Limited and Defence Engineering Services Limited, with the aim of discussing mutual interests and enhancing cooperation among the sister companies. Looking ahead, DPL will continue to enhance its operations, boost productivity, and contribute to the welfare of the Nigerian Armed Forces personnel.
