Microsoft's virtual intern Teams Facilitator will be late for the meeting

Microsoft's Teams Facilitator AI assistant, which joins meetings and tracks agendas, has been delayed in its rollout. Initially slated for June, the General Availability of the feature is now expected in November, with worldwide availability targeting mid-December. The Teams Facilitator is designed to pop up and answer questions when it detects a knowledge gap during a meeting, such as responding to "What is this Teams Facilitator thing?".

However, the feature's delayed launch has proven challenging for Microsoft, potentially due to difficulties in determining when a silence in conversation indicates a question needing an answer, or issues with the assistant's ability to provide relevant responses based on search results. Microsoft has not yet provided a reason for the delay.

The feature processes meeting conversations in real-time to identify these gaps and generate responses, requiring additional data processing and AI capabilities. It is worth noting that the feature is only available in premium editions of Microsoft 365 Copilot, so data privacy concerns may be reduced if the premium edition is not used.
