MCAs turn heat on Arati over stalled projects, poor roads

A faction of Kisii County's MCAs has ramped up criticism towards Governor Simba Arati, citing his administration's failure to prioritize essential service delivery projects and the persistent delays in various development initiatives. These representatives, speaking on Saturday, expressed deep dissatisfaction with the lack of urgency in addressing basic infrastructure needs, particularly in areas such as roads, education, and health.

Masimba MCA Bouse Mairura, representing the grievances, highlighted that residents in his ward were particularly affected by the stalled projects and the poor condition of roads, which he accused the county government of allowing to deteriorate due to a lack of urgency. Mairura specifically noted the approval of funds intended for road maintenance but expressed frustration over the county tractors being unable to operate due to a lack of fuel, questioning the governor's priorities.

He also raised concerns about several stalled Early Childhood Development Education (ECDE) projects across multiple wards, demanding explanations for the delays and calling for updates on critical projects such as the Riamichoki borehole and boda boda sheds. The MCA's criticism extends to the Masimba Level 4 Hospital, where a Sh10 million project remains incomplete following the contractor's withdrawal.

Mairura questioned the lack of leadership and accountability, accusing the county administration of focusing on political activities rather than delivering essential services to the populace. He urged residents to demand accountability and exposed the failures in development, emphasizing that Kisii County's people deserve tangible progress rather than mere political rhetoric.

The MCA assured that such demands would continue until changes were made, as the upcoming 2027 General Election would serve as a platform for voters to assess the county government's performance based on development records and service delivery.
