Mason jailed 35 years for defiling two daughters

Charles Seddoh, a 35-year-old mason from Oyibi in Accra, has been sentenced to 35 years in prison for repeatedly sexually abusing his two daughters, according to prosecutors. The Circuit Court, presided over by Annette Sophia Essel at the Domestic Violence and Victims Support Unit (DOVVSU) of the Police Headquarters, convicted Seddoh on five counts of defilement and incest.

The court ordered that the two victims receive clinical therapy to aid their recovery from the trauma of the offenses. The victims, an 18-year-old and an 11-year-old, were allegedly subjected to sexual abuse by their father starting in 2018 and 2021, respectively. Prosecutors testified that Seddoh beat the victims when they refused his advances, withheld food, and threatened to withhold support for their education.

On January 3, 2025, the 15-year-old victim was allegedly forced to have sex with her father, and on January 24 of the same year, the 18-year-old also experienced sexual abuse. The prosecution stated that on January 31, 2025, the two victims reported the abuse to the Adenta DOVVSU, where they were given police medical forms. The mother of the 18-year-old victim later handed over condoms to the Police, which she alleged Seddoh had tried to use on her daughter. On February 5, 2026, Seddoh admitted to the charges during his police caution statement.
