Major highway section near Kyiv closed after Russian attack sparks warehouse fires

On August 28, a major highway linking Kyiv to the western regions of Ukraine was abruptly shut down after a Russian assault ignited fires at warehouses in Kyiv Oblast, according to local authorities. The M-06 Kyiv-Chop highway experienced a temporary closure between the 15th and 32nd kilometers in both directions, as reported by Kyiv Oblast Governor Tymur Tkachenko on Telegram.

The warehouse premises were engulfed in flames, accompanied by explosions, and emergency services were promptly dispatched to the scene. Tkachenko strongly advised residents to avoid the area and adhere to the instructions provided by emergency services. Ukraine's Patrol Police promptly issued alternative routes for drivers to navigate around the affected location.

It is noteworthy that this incident marked the second consecutive day of Russian strikes on Kyiv Oblast, as reported by Tkachenko. Additionally, one individual sustained shrapnel wounds in the Boryspil district and was taken to a local hospital for medical treatment.
