Lee to unveil 2027 budget, support projects for young people

President Lee Jae Myung is set to unveil the 2027 budget dedicated to young people in a meeting on Friday, according to Yonhap news agency. This marks the first time the government will publicly present significant budget allocations and projects specifically designed to assist the young, before the annual budget's formal announcement.

The meeting, which will take place later in the day, aims to showcase budget allocations and major projects slated to benefit young people. Additionally, the Lee administration will seek opinions from young people during the event, as reported by Cheong Wa Dae.

The youth-focused budget unveiling comes amid a concerted effort by the Lee government to bolster policies for young people. Notably, President Lee is currently facing lower approval ratings among young voters compared to any other age group. In a recent youth policy meeting, Lee emphasized that South Korea has entered a phase of low economic growth, necessitating more maintenance and management than expansion. This shift has resulted in fewer job opportunities, particularly for young individuals.
