Kyle Lowry gets the Raptors honor only Vince Carter has received

Kyle Lowry has been honored with the Raptors jersey retirement only the second player in franchise history to receive this privilege, following Vince Carter. The Toronto Raptors unveiled their decision on Thursday, announcing that Lowry's No. 7 jersey will be permanently displayed at Scotiabank Arena following their game against the Philadelphia 76ers on January 10th.

This honor is particularly significant for Lowry as he is a native Philadelphian and spent the last two-plus seasons of his NBA career with the 76ers. Lowry concluded his 20-year career earlier this summer, signing a ceremonial one-day contract with Toronto on July 7th, allowing him to retire with the team that provided him with the most successful years of his career.

Speaking on the occasion, Lowry expressed his deep connection to Toronto, stating that retiring a Raptor will mean everything to him. Over his illustrious career, Lowry, who played for Memphis Grizzlies, Houston Rockets, and Miami Heat, won six consecutive All-Star selections, became a crucial player during the 2019 NBA championship season, and established himself as one of the NBA's top shooting guards.

His impressive 3-point shooting, which included 2,209 made 3-pointers, ranks 14th in NBA history. The Raptors' announcement emphasizes the profound impact Lowry had on the franchise, cementing his place in the team's rich history.
