Kane, Kompany, Gwinn honoured at Allianz Arena

Harry Kane, Vincent Kompany, and Giulia Gwinn were honored as the top athletes in Germany at the Allianz Arena on Friday night, prior to the start of the Bundesliga season against VfB Stuttgart. This marks the first time in the 25-year history of the award presented by the magazine kicker that all three categories – Men’s Player of the Year, Coach of the Year, and Women’s Player of the Year – were won by a single club, FC Bayern Munich.

The award ceremony was attended by President Herbert Hainer, CEO Jan-Christian Dreesen, board member Max Eberl, sporting director Christoph Freund, FC Bayern Women's director Bianca Rech, and kicker editor-in-chief Tobias Goldbrunner, who presented the trophies to the winners.

For Kane, this is the first time he has been named Germany's Player of the Year, following Robert Lewandowski in 2021. This marks Bayern's 25th win for a Munich player, a record distance ahead of Borussia Mönchengladbach's six. Franz Beckenbauer holds the record with four.

Kompany also becomes the first Bayern coach to earn this accolade since Hansi Flick in 2020, with Bayern holding the record with seven wins. Gwinn successfully defended her title as Women’s Player of the Year, marking the third time Munich has won this category since its introduction in 1996.
