Kaduna varsity begs lecturers to end strike

The university administration of Kaduna State University has called upon the Academic Staff Union of Universities, KASU chapter, to halt its two-week warning strike, citing the state government's intervention as an opportunity to settle the lecturers' grievances. This plea emerged only 24 hours after the strike began, following a meeting where the union's members expressed dissatisfaction over the non-enforcement of agreements with the Federal Government and other issues impacting their welfare.

According to a statement by the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Abdullahi Musa, the university has urged the lecturers to reconsider their industrial action, considering the concrete steps the Kaduna State Government has already taken to address the issues at hand. The university management expressed concern about the strike's impact on students, particularly those who have journeyed from various parts of the state and beyond to attend the institution.

They cautioned that any disruption to the academic calendar could adversely affect students' studies, their families, and their future plans.
