Kaduna varsity begs lecturers to end strike

The Kaduna State University has implored the Academic Staff Union of Universities, KASU chapter, to halt its impending two-week warning strike. This request was made by the university's management on Friday, just 24 hours post the lecturers' commencement of the warning strike. The appeal was made following a meeting of the lecturers' members who discussed unresolved agreements with the Federal Government and other issues affecting their welfare.

In a statement penned by the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Abdullahi Musa, the university urged the lecturers to reconsider their decision to initiate industrial action, taking into account the steps already taken by the state government to resolve their grievances. According to the VC, "Management urges ASUU-KASU to give the ongoing dialogue every opportunity to succeed and to reconsider the suspension of the warning strike, particularly in view of the concrete steps already being taken by the Kaduna State Government to address the issues under discussion."

The management expressed concern over the implications of the strike on students, particularly those from various parts of the state and beyond. They warned that any disruption to the academic calendar could significantly impact students' studies, their families, and their future plans.
