Jammu and Kashmir gets new intel chief — in officer who supervised Vyapam probe

In Jammu and Kashmir, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha has appointed M K Sinha as the new intelligence chief, replacing the previous officer Nitish Kumar. M K Sinha, a 1996-batch IPS officer, has been appointed as Additional Director General (ADG) of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of the J&K Police. Sinha has previously worked in the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and the Intelligence Bureau, where he supervised the investigation of the Madhya Pradesh Vyapam scam in 2016.

He also served as the Joint Director of the CBI. The new Inspector General of Police (IGP) for Kashmir is Sujit Kumar, a 2007-batch IPS officer. Kumar will succeed V K Birdi, who has been transferred for central deputation. Tejinder Singh, the previous IGP for Kashmir, has been transferred to become IGP Jammu, replacing Bhim Sen Tuti, who has been posted as Inspector General (HQ).

Other promotions include Uttam Chand becoming IGP Railways and Shakti Kumar Pathak being designated as Director, Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB).
