Jamie Vardy to broadcast Bundesliga games on YouTube channel

Former England and Leicester City striker Jamie Vardy has signed a contract to broadcast German Bundesliga games on his YouTube channel, announced by the league on Friday. Vardy's channel will become an official broadcaster for seven Friday Bundesliga matches this season, mirroring the deal of British podcaster Mark Goldbridge who began broadcasting 15 matches in the 2026-27 season.

The Friday match between defending champions Bayern Munich and Stuttgart will be the first game Vardy's channel broadcasts. While Sky Sport and BBC also hold broadcast rights, Vardy and Goldbridge's deals are part of Bundesliga's strategy to reach new audiences given the international popularity of the English Premier League. Vardy, now 39, made his England debut at 28 and scored seven goals in 26 international appearances.

The addition of Vardy brings a unique player-led format to Bundesliga's creator distribution, blending live football with the perspective and personality of one of the Premier League's most recognizable players in recent years. Vardy, a free agent after a one-year stint at Italian club Cremonese which ended in the summer due to the club's relegation from Serie A, launched his podcast in June.

Signed by Leicester from Fleetwood Town in 2012, Vardy was the star player in Leicester's remarkable Premier League triumph in 2015-2016, scoring in an unprecedented 11 consecutive top-flight matches.
