Iran's top negotiator slams US Treasury Secretary over accusations of abroad spendings

Iran's top negotiator, Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, has strongly criticized US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent over allegations that Iran has squandered significant amounts of money abroad while its citizens struggle to meet basic needs. In a strongly worded post on social media platform X, Ghalibaf questioned the wisdom of the United States spending billions on its "terrorist proxy, Israel, and 750 bases" instead of using that money to aid its own people.

He sarcastically addressed Bessent, saying, "Scotty, man [?], your credibility is on the line. Do something." Ghalibaf lamented, "Instead of funneling billions to its terrorist proxy, Israel, and 750 bases, this failing empire could spend that cash on its own people, but nah, that d make too much sense for this regime."
