Iran Restores 40% of Production Capacity at Damaged Oil Fields

Iran has restored approximately 40% of the damaged production capacity at the South Pars oil and gas field, Deputy Oil Minister Ahmad Zeraatkar announced on Thursday, according to Fars news agency. The attacks occurred amid an escalation of conflict between Iran, the United States, and Israel, with the US and Israel striking South Pars in March.

In May, Iran had outlined a plan to restore and modernize the affected infrastructure, with completion expected within two years. Around 50% of the restoration work on the South Pars facility is slated to be finished by winter 2027. The infrastructure had sustained significant damage, and full capacity restoration could take at least two years.

Earlier, Pars Oil and Gas Company Head Touraj Dehghani reported that production capacity at the South Pars refinery had reached 70% by the previous week. The US and Israel launched attacks on several Iranian targets on February 28, prompting Iran to retaliate. In mid-June, Tehran and Washington signed a memorandum of understanding to cease hostilities, but both sides resumed attacks shortly after.
