Iran denies plot against Trump's son

Iran's Security Chief Mohsen Rezaei has dismissed reports of a plot to assassinate US President Donald Trump's son, Barron Trump, as false in an interview with Lebanon's Al Manar TV. This denial occurred two days after the US Secret Service acknowledged being aware of a video on Iranian state television discussing a similar assassination plot.

Rezaei, who leads Iran's Supreme National Security Council, suggested that the issue of the Strait of Hormuz is connected to ending the wider regional conflict, including battles in Lebanon and Gaza. He stated that Iran is preparing a list of conditions for reopening the strait, which is crucial for global energy shipments. Iran and Oman have reached an agreement on a shipping corridor through the strait, with some sections using Omani waters and others through Iranian waters.

However, the strait has been largely blocked since the conflict began in February as both nations continue to negotiate terms.
