How to Hotspot on an HP Laptop

Sharing your HP laptop's internet connection with other devices, known as creating a hotspot, is straightforward using Windows' built-in Mobile Hotspot feature. Before proceeding, ensure your laptop is already connected to the internet via Wi-Fi, Ethernet, or another supported connection.

To begin, open Windows Settings by clicking on the Start menu and selecting the gear icon. Navigate to "Network & Internet" and then "Mobile hotspot." Here, you'll find the options to configure your hotspot. Choose the internet connection you wish to share, such as your laptop's Wi-Fi, and ensure it's enabled.

Next, turn on the Mobile Hotspot by toggling the switch. Your laptop will now create a wireless hotspot that other devices can detect. Remember to note the network name and password displayed, as you'll need these to connect other devices.

To connect a device, like a smartphone, go to its Wi-Fi settings and look for available networks. Select your HP laptop's hotspot name and enter the password shown. Once connected, you can use the device with your laptop's internet connection.

If you're finished using the hotspot, simply return to the Mobile Hotspot settings and turn the feature off. This action helps conserve battery life and data usage on your laptop. In case the hotspot doesn't appear or devices can't connect, ensure Wi-Fi is enabled and your wireless adapter is functioning correctly. Updating the Wi-Fi driver through Device Manager or Windows Update may resolve any issues.
