Heavy rain and strong winds expected across Johor, Sabah and Sarawak

The Malaysian Meteorological Department has issued a thunderstorm warning across Johor, Sabah, and Sarawak until 4:00 pm today. This warning impacts specific locations within these states. In Johor, the warning covers Pontian, Kulai, Johor Bahru, and Kota Tinggi. Sarawak's affected areas include Bintulu, Sebauh, Miri, Subis, Beluru, Marudi, Mukah, Dalat, and Matu.

Sabah's warned regions are Kuala Penyu, Beaufort, Membakut, Keningau, Tambunan, Tenom in the Interior division, and Papar, Penampang, Putatan, Kota Kinabalu, Tuaran, and Kota Belud along the West Coast. Additionally, Labuan is included in the warning.

Residents in these zones are advised to prepare for thunderstorms, heavy rain, and strong winds. The MetMalaysia issues such warnings when rainfall intensity surpasses 20 mm/hour or if storms are expected to last over an hour. These thunderstorm warnings are valid for up to six hours from the time they are issued. The public is urged to stay informed about subsequent alerts and to take appropriate measures to safeguard against flash floods, strong winds, and lightning.
