Gunmen kill Kogi APC LG chairman

All Progressives Congress chairman in Kogi State's Dekina Local Government Area, Ishaq Yunusa, was killed by gunmen on Thursday along the Itobe-Ochadamu Expressway. A second occupant of his vehicle was abducted by the assailants. The Kogi State Police confirmed the incident in a statement on Friday. The attack took place around 5pm when armed men emerged from the surrounding bush and began firing at motorists.

The blue Toyota Corolla belonging to Yunusa was later found abandoned along the highway, while his body was discovered inside the vehicle. Another person was taken into the bush by the gunmen. Police have intensified security operations in the area and are working to locate the abducted victim and apprehend the attackers. The police have also urged motorists and residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity.
