Gaggio tech, la cigs è finita, arriva l’ora delle uscite

Gaggio Tech, former Saga Coffee, is transitioning through its final phase of reorganization, marking the end of its plastic production branch and the termination of the social integration fund by August 31. The anticipation of this change will see the completion of social amortization, as agreed upon with the Ministry of Labor. The restructuring will involve 79 workers who will be released and available for Naspi.

Out of the remaining 40 employees, they will continue working in the metalworking branch and be reabsorbed by Minifaber. Gaggio Tech, born from Saeco in the early 1980s in the challenging Gaggio Montano area of the Bolognese Apennines, experienced significant expansion in the 1990s before being acquired by Philips. Following the peak of its expansion, the company faced a downward trend, initially losing nearly 2,000 employees at the turn of the millennium.

The saga coffee company, which employed 220 workers predominantly women, faced a difficult phase in late 2021 and announced its closure. This situation garnered extensive media attention, with the workers enduring three months of harsh cold weather in the Appennino mountains, becoming a symbol of the political and union struggle.

In 2022, two buyers, Minifaber and Tecnostamp, entered the market, leading to the creation of Gaggio Tech and a new production focusing on plastic and metal. As of March 2025, another crisis is announced due to a lack of orders, leading to the end of the plastic branch and the start of a vertente that concluded with the agreement reached last July.

Since the beginning of September, around 40 workers will remain operational, being reabsorbed by Minifaber, while the others will start the Naspi process.
