Friends face murder charge over killing of Indonesian man in Klang’s Telok Gong

On August 28, two friends were brought before the Magistrate’s Court in Klang, Malaysia, charged with the murder of an Indonesian man named Suherman, 47. The accused, Muhd Asnawi Ghazali, 37, and Musa Ramli, 25, appeared before Magistrate Siti Zubaidah Mahat, who read out the charges. Both defendants nodded understandingly, but did not enter a plea, as the case is to be heard by the High Court.

Suherman was killed around 6:30 am on August 6 at an unspecified house in Kampung Baru Telok Gong. The two men are accused of committing the crime in conjunction with a third individual, Kutek, who is still at large. They face charges under Section 302 of the Penal Code, which could result in the death penalty or a prison term between 30 and 40 years.

If convicted but not sentenced to death, they could also be required to undergo 12 strokes of the cane. The prosecution, represented by Deputy Public Prosecutor Mohammad Uzzair Rosman, argued the case, while the accused were unrepresented. The court has scheduled the next mention of the case for November 27.
