2 friends charged with murder of Indonesian man in Klang

Two friends, Asnawi Ghazali, 37, and Musa Ramli, 25, have been charged with the murder of an Indonesian man, Suherman, 47, in Klang. The incident allegedly took place at an unnumbered house in Kampung Baru Telok Gong around 6.30am on August 6. The pair, along with a third man named Kutek, who remains at large, are accused of the crime.

They appeared before magistrate Siti Zubaidah Mahat at the Klang Magistrates Court today, where the charges were read out to them. Asnawi and Musa nodded their acknowledgment. Neither defendant entered a plea, as the case is being handled by the High Court. They are charged under Section 302 of the Penal Code, which allows for either the death penalty or imprisonment of 30 to 40 years.

If not given the death penalty, they will also face a minimum of 12 strokes of the cane upon conviction. Deputy public prosecutor Uzzair Rosman represented the prosecution. The court has set November 27 for the next mention of the case.
