Form Six students to get allowance from 2027

Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim has announced that Form Six students will receive an allowance in the 2027 Budget. The allocation decision came after discussions with pre-university students who pointed out that Form Six students currently do not receive financial support. While allowances exist for students in Years One to Five and for university students, the allowance for Form Six students has not been provided until now.

Anwar stated that the decision to include the allowance in the 2027 Budget would depend on the government's financial capacity. The move aims to expand access to quality education and ensure no student is disadvantaged due to socio-economic background. Education Minister Fadhlina Sidek also endorsed the proposal, which emerged from the Kongres Prauniversiti Madani where 12 resolutions were adopted.

Anwar emphasized that education is the largest allocation in the Madani government's budget as it is crucial for the country's future. He urged students to take education seriously, develop critical thinking skills, and uphold discipline, emphasizing that academic excellence must be accompanied by good character and ethics. Anwar also called for equal educational opportunities for students from disadvantaged backgrounds, including those from poor families, rural areas, estates, urban poor communities, and remote regions.

He stressed that Malaysia's future depends on its young people, particularly those from disadvantaged backgrounds, being given opportunities to excel in various fields. Success, according to Anwar, requires determination, effort, and prayer.
